Reiki

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese method for stress reduction which promotes overall healing and wellness.

A Reiki practitioner can work with the subtle energies of a person’s body to restore health and wellness.

Reiki can help to balance out a person’s physical, emotional, mental, and physical states which can help facilitate healing from a holistic point of view.

The Reiki practitioner assists a person in this process by facilitating relaxation and establishing a meditative state. This helps to alleviate stress, promote resiliency, and can reduce the effects of anxiety and depression.

There is a growing body of research that indicates that Reiki has the capacity to reduce anxiety, pain and fatigue, facilitate relaxation and helps to relieve symptoms of depression.

Its recognition as an effective healing modality has grown to the extent that it is now being offered in hospitals.

My clients have described their experiences with Reiki as “healing,” “beneficial,” and “inspiring.”

Reiki is an excellent complement to traditional medicine, mindfulness meditation, and other alternative healing methods.

What to expect during a session

Please wear comfortable, loose clothing, and shoes that are easily removed.

During a session, a person lies down on a treatment table fully-clothed.

I usually have ambient music playing in the background, and the room is softly lit.

A Reiki practitioner’s hands will not come in contact with you but will remain a few inches above your body throughout the session – unless you permit them to do so (sometimes a light touch on the head, shoulders, or feet is helpful).

Most clients report feeling calm and relaxed during the session and refreshed afterwards.
